Join Me in Honoring Veterans and Military Families for September 11 Day of Service and Remembrance

Statement

Dear Friends,

Today I visited the Durham Veteran Affairs Medical Center to honor veterans for September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. I met with post 9/11, Vietnam and World War II veterans and signed a proclamation declaring Sept. 11 as a day of service and remembrance.

As you all know, North Carolina is the most military-friendly state in America. We are home to more than 792,000 veterans and more than 147,000 active duty, guard and reserve members. Approximately 35 percent of North Carolina's population is military, veteran, spouse, parent or dependent.
